Heidi Kluess walks a dog.

Heidi A Kluess, Ph.D., FACSM CCFT is an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Auburn University. Dr. Kluess received her Bachelor’s degree in Wellness from the University of Florida. She then completed her Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Florida and went to Louisiana State University for her Ph.D. in Kinesiology. She did two post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Department of Anesthesiology. She was a faculty member at the University of Arkansas for 4 years and then moved to Auburn University in 2011.

Dr. Kluess’ research focus is physiology of humans, canines and rats. She is a dog trainer with 12 years of experienced teaching group and private classes and is an APDT member since 2014. She is also an experienced sport dog trainer (14 years) that has multiple obedience, agility, dock diving, trick dog and barn hunt titles on her dogs. She is an American Kennel Club evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen program and is a Canine Fitness Trainer certification (University of Tennessee).

Becky Jones, MS
Doctoral Student

Becky Jones, MS is a doctoral student in the School of Kinesiology. Becky completed her Bachelor’s degree in organismal biology at Auburn University in 2016. She graduated with her Master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Auburn in 2018. Becky is a dog trainer and active dog sport competitor, with titles on her dogs in rally obedience, agility, barn hunt, dock diving, and other sports; one of her dogs is a multi-year world finalist in canine disc sports.
